Australian telescope to telescope
SpIRIT has been operating in good health for more than 14 months in orbit, continuing to acquire data to achieve its mission objectives.
In one of our Earth observations, we imaged Eastern Australia capturing the Siding Spring Observatory in NSW, the home of the 3.9m AAT telescope. From the smallest and farthest in space Australian optical telescope to the largest on the ground, we are proud to celebrate the technological and scientific achievements of made in Australia remote sensing systems.
Fig 1: Eastern Australia as seen from space on 8th February 2025, captured with one of the RGB cameras on board the SpIRIT satellite from about 500km above the ground. The location of the Siding Spring Observatory is marked in the enlarged cut-out.
